Norman Nato moves to Racing Engineering for 2016 GP2 Series

GP2 squad Racing Engineering has signed Norman Nato to complete its driver line-up for the 2016 season

The 23-year-old Frenchman joins the Spanish team having raced for Arden in his rookie campaign in the category last year, when he took 18th in the standings with best finishes of sixth in the Hungaroring sprint race and Monza feature race.

He will compete for Racing Engineering after testing with the team at the end-of-year tests in Abu Dhabi in both 2014 and '15, and will be team-mate to Jordan King, who remains with the outfit for a second season.

"The Abu Dhabi post-season test went well and it was a logical decision to keep working together for the 2016 season," said Nato, who won two races in Formula Renault 3.5 in 2014 before switching to GP2.

"After a first season to discover and learn about the GP2 series in 2015, my aim is now to be a frontrunner in every race meeting in order to fight for the title."

Team boss Alfonso de Orleans-Borbon added: "We expect Norman to be competitive from the first race of the season since has the talent and the work ethic to step up on the podium from the beginning."

Racing Engineering, which won three races last year with series runner-up Alexander Rossi, is the fifth GP2 team to finalise its driver pairing for the 2016 season.
